Find Beauty In the Rain

Hello everyone!! Lately I've been talking to a few of my friends about some of the trials in their lives, and lately, I've been hit with a few seeds of inspiration I would like to share with you. So today I would like to talk about rain. Rain, it's beautiful isn't it. Yet it has so much control over what we do and how we feel. So first lets discuss what rain is. The first definition in the dictionary we find is, "Water that is condensed from the aqueous vapor in the atmosphere and falls to the earth in drops more than .5 millimeters." Then we come upon another definition. Rain: a heavy continuous descent or inflicting of anything. Maybe, sometimes the rain we feel, isn't condensed water that falls to the earth in little droplets. Maybe the rain we feel is the little drops of regret, the little problems we face. They can start drop by drop. Little things that hit us. But soon a storm is upon us, and the drops of rain are falling down in sheets. So today I'd like to talk to you, about finding beauty in the rainstorms we face in our lives.
First, I have a story I'd like to share with you. A few years ago, I took a few voice lessons. My teacher would have a new song for me every week. At some point she gave me a song. While singing it, I realized that the song had a beautiful meaning to it. I do not remember who composed the song, but the title was April Showers. Here is the first verse. Life is not a highway strewn with flowers, still it holds a goodly share of bliss, when the sun gives way to April showers, here's a thought that you should never miss: Though April showers, may come your way, they bring the flowers, that bloom in May... and where you see clouds upon the hill, you soon will see crowds of daffodils. So keep on looking for a bluebird and listening for his song, whenever April showers come along. Now allow me to translate. Life is not perfect, yet it still holds some happiness, when things go wrong always remember that when trials happen, they bring gratefulness and happiness afterwards. Where you see trials happening in your life, remember soon, good things will come. So keep look at your blessings and the good when those bad things happen to you, because everything will turn out okay. Our storms are just a sign of good things to come if we bear out the storm with patience. In fact, as Vivian Green says, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain." Learn to love what those little showers can give you.
Second of all, I have one more analogy I'd like to share with you. Trees start as seeds, and those seeds need water and nourishment to grow and survive. Without those rain showers, those trees would never be able to grow and progress. They couldn't become strong without the wind threatening to tear them from the soil they call home. Just like these trees, we cannot survive without our trials and pain. Our trials shape us and refine us. Again this brings to my mind another song by Katherine Nelson. And again, here is the first verse. Sometimes He lets it rain, He lets the fierce winds blow, Sometimes it takes a storm, To lead a heart where it can grow, He can move mountains of grief, And oceans of pain, But sometimes he lets it rain. We are meant to have those storm clouds in our lives. Without them, we wouldn't be able to become who we are today, or who we want to be.
So next time you see the rain falling down, remember that rain can also wash away the pain and the hurt we feel. Find beauty in the rain. Let it wash down your face as you remember that after a rainstorm comes the rainbow.

Believing In Yourself

Hey everyone!! It's been a while! Lately I've been thinking about starting to post again! If any of you guys have any suggestions, I'd love to know how I can make this blog better. Anyways, today we are going to talk about confidence. Again. Yes I know we've talked about this before, but there's a reason for that :-). First of all, honestly girls (and guys), you look best when you're wearing confidence. Being confident allows others to see who we really are, and it allows us to really shine. We all struggle with confidence, even I do. So here are a few things we can do to help our self confidence.

  1. Go out and DO SOMETHING. Whether it's doing something you love, or changing the world. Set a goal, go accomplish it.
  2. Smile. Believe in yourself. Just remember that others perceptions of you don't matter you are who you are, and no one else can be you.
  3. Listen to music. But not just any music, listen to music that makes you feel good about yourself. I would suggest listening to Lovely by Sara Haze, or Inside Out by Aaliyah Rose. Just listen to music that makes you feel good.
  4. Decide who you want to be. Whether it's by quotes on pinterest, or things we love about people we know. Decide who you want to be, and become that.
  5. Wear something that makes you feel great. I suggest something modest, and flattering, but that's my opinion. Wear something that makes you feel confident, that you love.
  6. And remember, only you decide who you are.
Look inside. You've got this. The more you love your decisions, the less you need others to love them. So go out tomorrow. Look in the mirror, and choose to be amazing, because you are.

The Secret to Becoming Beautiful

Alluring, appealing, charming, cute, dazzling, delicate, delightful, elegant, exquisite, fascinating, good-looking, gorgeous, graceful, handsome, lovely, magnificent, marvelous, pleasing, pretty, stunning. All synonyms for beautiful. This world is obsessed with finding true beauty. We find beauty secrets in magazines, web articles, and many things. Why are we so infatuated with beauty? Being beautiful, amazing, or stunning is something we all want, but according to the worlds views, we have to have something like makeup to help us who aren't so blessed. But what is the secret to true beauty? People have claimed to find it through, anti-aging creams, mascara, and many other things. I'd like to tell you a story, told by Rosalyn Collings. She said, "One day at school as I ate lunch and studied for my next class, I noticed a group sitting near me, talking and laughing. One young woman particularly caught my attention. She was tall, with beautiful black hair, dark skin, and high cheekbones. Her appearance was as unlike my pale, freckled face and red hair as anything I could imagine. She was one of the most beautiful people I had ever seen. After a few minutes, the group rose to leave. But the young woman I had been watching stopped. I was somewhat embarrassed; I thought she must have seen me staring at them. Then something extraordinary happened.
'I’m sorry to disturb you,' she said, 'but I want to tell you how beautiful you are.'
After a shocked pause, I started to laugh. 'I was thinking the same thing about you!'
After she left, I continued to think about what had happened. We found our differences beautiful. At that moment I realized there is no single standard of beauty."
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it is up to us to choose to be beautiful. Elder Lynn G. Robbins stated, "It isn’t just about cosmetics or clothing. What makes a young woman truly attractive comes from her heart...What makes a woman beautiful? The world tries to convince us that cosmetics, perfumes, jewelry, fashionable clothing, diets, and even surgery are necessary for beauty. While some of these fashion aids are desirable and lovely, they can change only surface appearances."  The most attractive accessory a lady can have, is pure and sincere happiness. Beauty is not only skin deep, beauty will radiate through your actions and thoughts. If you believe you are beautiful, you will be. I would encourage you to read this article. It has wonderful thoughts about true beauty for you Young Women out there. Just click here. "Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough; we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse; we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude; we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune; we need more women of faith. We have enough greed; we need more goodness. We have enough vanity; we need more virtue. We have enough popularity; we need more purity." -Margaret Nadauld. So please, next time you look in the mirror decide to be beautiful.

The wake up call.

Hey everyone!!!!!! It's been two months!! Sorry, I've been busy with life, and learning, and you know just  life. Earlier today I was chatting with one of my close friends, who I was able to share my testimony with, and I realized a few things. 1. With God NOTHING is impossible. I mean NOTHING. 2. He will ALWAYS ALWAYS answer your prayers. Your Heavenly Father loves you, and doesn't want to see you lost, or in pain. He knows ALL of the answers, and wants to help us. But the only way that he can help us is if we knock. 3. HE LOVES YOU. He loves you, no matter who you are. You are a child of a Heavenly King, Can't you feel it? He loves you, and always will. We can never stray to far off the rode, and we can always return. I want say how grateful I am for the wonderful gift of the priesthood, and those in my life who hold it. The priesthood has blessed my life, and will later bless my future family. Through the priesthood, I have been healed emotionally, and physically, and sometimes even spiritually. There's one thing that is just as important as the priesthood, and that is Charity. Charity is the PURE love of Christ. Charity is not only the love Christ gives to us, but the love OF him. Charity is also our love of him, and through charity we may understand those who may be persecuting us in one way or another. Through charity, we can learn to love them. It sounds impossible right?? Go back to number one. Your Heavenly Father loves you, and wants you to put your trust in him. I hope to be posting more soon!! Love you guys!

Role Models

Most of us today have role models. What is a role model you ask? A role model is someone we look up to and admire. We want to be like them someday. The only problem with role models, is who we look up to. Today the world is full of immoral and disrespectful things, and some of us look up to them. M. Russel Ballard stated, " Immodest, immoral, intemperate women jam the airwaves, monopolize magazines, and slink across movie screens—all while being celebrated by the world... Popular culture today often makes women look silly, inconsequential, mindless, and powerless. It objectifies them and disrespects them and then suggests that they are able to leave their mark on mankind only by seduction—easily the most pervasively dangerous message the adversary sends to women about themselves." We often become who we look up to, so who better than to value our Mothers. Our mothers have stayed with us through the thick and thin, the rain and sun, and the trails in our lives. They nurture us, take care of us, and love us unconditionally.  "Choose your role models wisely because they become your heroes. You will remember what they would do, and that becomes your pattern, enabling you to make wise decisions. And before you know it, others will be looking up to you and patterning their good behavior based on a role model they admire—you." Soon enough, we will also be admired by others, and it is up to us to be good role models. Our mothers are willing to do almost anything for us, because they love us. Elder Ballard continued on saying, "And so, my dear young women, with all my heart I urge you not to look to contemporary culture for your role models and mentors. Please look to your faithful mothers for a pattern to follow. Model yourselves after them, not after celebrities whose standards are not the Lord’s standards and whose values may not reflect an eternal perspective. Look to your mother. Learn from her strengths, her courage, and her faithfulness. Listen to her. She may not be a whiz at texting; she may not even have a Facebook page. But when it comes to matters of the heart and the things of the Lord, she has a wealth of knowledge. As you approach the time for marriage and young motherhood, she will be your greatest source of wisdom. No other person on earth loves you in the same way or is willing to sacrifice as much to encourage you and help you find happiness—in this life and forever." Even though we may not love them that much now, you will find that later in life they will be a beacon to us in times of need. I encourage you this month to find a good role model, and try to pattern your life after theirs. Here is a video that I believe we all should enjoy.

The 100 Dollar Bill

Hey everyone! Today I want to talk to you about a 100 dollar bill. Now imagine, I have a 100 dollar bill in my pocket. I'm about to give it to you, but first, I take it out and crumple it. Okay, so now the bill is crumpled, do you still want it? Probably so. Again, I'm about to hand it to you, but I drop it on the ground, and stomp all over it. Still want it? I then proceed to rip two of the corners off, do you still want it? Yes, you do. Even though the 100 dollars has been crumpled, stomped on, and teared apart, it is still worth 100 dollars. We are all like 100 dollar bills. Each of us have been torn, crumpled, and stomped on by others. But does that make us worthless? No, it doesn't. You are still worth something, and you always will be. Whether you're spit upon, or left in the dirt, someone will always find you, and love you for what you are. Hope to post again soon! Also, I would like you to watch this video. It is a video that has touched me and I hope it will touch you! https://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=FYVvE4tr2BI
